The Challenge

MediCare's patient management system was a 12-year-old desktop application that could not be accessed remotely, had no mobile support, and required two full-time IT staff to maintain. Reception staff spent an average of 8 minutes per patient on check-in due to a slow, multi-screen workflow. The system had no analytics capability, leaving clinic managers unable to track appointment no-show rates or bed utilization without manual spreadsheet work.

The Solution

We began with a UX research phase — interviewing 24 staff members and 50 patients to map the ideal workflow. Zenarix then built a Next.js web application with a real-time appointment management system, integrated directly with the existing lab and billing systems via a custom API layer. The new patient portal allowed online pre-registration, reducing check-in to under 2 minutes. We implemented a Power BI analytics layer that gave clinic managers real-time visibility into appointment utilization, staff capacity, and no-show trends.
